Recruting Firms - Please Read
This page makes things easier for both of us.  I am usually somewhat busy, but almost always make time for people.

I ask only that you look at the SUMMARY of my resume here before you call me since it reduces the time we'll both waste asking silly questions of each other you can see right there.

It should answer most of what you need to know.

My rates...
  • Program Manager Positions....  $50-75/ hr  W2
  • Developer Positions................  $50-75/ hr  W2
  • Designer Positions.................. $45-65/ hr W2

Bottom line for me is that my landlord tells me I have to make at least $45 an hour.  Please don't ask me if I can go lower than that... I can't. )
  • Consulting Positions .............. estimate required - this is a ballpark
           1099 work - $80-100/hr.

Am I willing to ...

  • Accept downtown Seattle Positions?

I can - but the client will need to be aware that my travel time may cause me to be late if the 405 is blocked up.  I'm coming in from Snohomish - I don't like being late consistently and taking a bus requires a 20-30 minute drive (both ways) to the nearest transit station, and a 1-2 hour transit from there - with a 20 minute swap, so it's 2-4 hours daily for me to take a bus, not the most efficient use of time.  ;-)
  • Accept travel positions?

Up to 25% is okay... 50% is even somewhat possible. 75% for short periods is fne but if we're talking 100% travel monday through thursday every week... I start to get cranky.   Working from home is always good for me - I did that for years and it's great.  .
  • Work outside of Seattle?
If it requires relocation - Not unless there is more money than a sane man can pass up - and that's a lot of money.  I'm pretty insane.
  • Consider reducing my rate?
     Short Answer ... No.
Longer Answer --  Maybe for the right company, the right job or the right opportunity.  That being sad - it's highly unlikely.

  • Accept a position with a start up?
No.  I don't do start ups.
Nor does my bank.  In fact, they make this shrieking noise about bouncing paychecks and bad check fees... it's really annoying.  I could write a book about working for start ups, in fact, I've considered it several times.  1 in 20 Startups succeed.  That's not speculation - it's fact.

What am I looking for?

  • World peace, an end to hunger and a really good cup of coffee.
  • Someone who isn't going to ask me "What is it that you want from your career?"
  • To have a boss who's name is "Mr. Wonka".
  • A company health care plan which handled by Doctor Who.
  • To get to save the world regularly as a part of my job duties, or alternately get a super suit, a high tech rocket car, or a giant robot I can fly around in.
(Youtube: MegasXLR if you get bored.  That robot ROCKED!!)
  • The chance to do really amazing things with really smart people.

Pick any of the above - they all work (here's a hint - there's one that I'm very interested in.)

 Final thoughts...

I am always willing to discuss future positions - so that is not a problem ever.  I do however have a rule that I complete whatever projects I'm on before I leave.  So far - never had to break that rule.

I have two settings... working and working for fun.  That's what I want from my next job.
